Drive cost and storage planning
Both two-bay designs are most sensible as a mirror for important data. That halves raw capacity, so two 12TB drives provide roughly one drive's capacity before binary/filesystem overhead. A separate backup is still required because a mirror does not protect against deletion, theft or malware.
UGREEN currently lists up to 2 × 32TB for the DH2300, while Xiaomi publishes 30TB per bay. Treat those as manufacturer ceilings, not a promise that every drive firmware/model is validated; check the current compatibility list before ordering a pair.
