Quick answer

The N300 Pro is the higher-rated half of Toshiba's NAS range. Toshiba's line-up table gives it a workload of up to 550TB a year, support for up to 24 drive bays, a five-year limited warranty and capacities up to 24TB. The standard N300 is rated for up to 180TB a year, up to 12 bays and three years, from 4TB to 22TB. Both are 7200 RPM and CMR at every capacity. Few N300 Pro models are usually in stock, so the standard N300 table sits beside it.

Where the figures come from

Toshiba's N300 product page and the line-up table on it, read on October 12, 2026. Toshiba gives an MTTF of up to 1.2 million hours for the standard N300 and notes that it depends on the model; the page gives no MTTF for the Pro.

When the Pro is the right one

Three cases. Your NAS has more than twelve bays, which is past what Toshiba supports the standard N300 for. You want 24TB, which the standard range does not reach. Or you want five years of cover on a drive you will run for a long time.

For a home NAS of twelve bays or fewer at 22TB or below, the standard N300 is rated for the job, and it is normally the cheaper of the two per terabyte. Unlike WD's two NAS ranges, both Toshiba ranges spin at 7200 RPM, so there is no quieter, slower option to choose between them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Toshiba N300 and N300 Pro?

Workload, bay support and warranty. The N300 Pro is rated for up to 550TB a year, up to 24 bays and five years; the N300 for up to 180TB a year, up to 12 bays and three years.

Is the Toshiba N300 Pro CMR?

Yes. Toshiba lists CMR for all capacities of both the N300 Pro and the N300.

How large does the N300 Pro go?

Up to 24TB, against 22TB for the standard N300.

Why does this page sometimes show few N300 Pro drives?
