Do storage buyers need the Pro?

No. The RAID array, drive ceiling, NVMe positions and network ports are the same, so a file server cannot justify Pro solely on capacity. Spend the difference on larger CMR drives, an independent backup and a real 10GbE network before buying unused AI headroom.

Local AI is the stronger case, but model storage and model execution are different. Both units can store a huge repository. The Pro matters when the NAS itself must index, transcribe or run supported models and the standard model's compute becomes the constraint.
