Find the Cheapest Recertified NAS Drive Today
Every second-hand CMR drive tracked, then the same stock split by line
As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Prices and availability come from Amazon.com as of the last update and may change.
A recertified drive is a different purchase from a new one, so this page keeps second-hand stock on its own. This page ranks every second-hand NAS and enterprise drive tracked by price per terabyte, then shows the same stock by line. A listing appears only if it is a 3.5-inch SATA drive of 4TB or more whose recording type is established as CMR; anything unconfirmed is shown separately, labelled. No warranty is stated on this page for any second-hand listing. The term is set by the seller and written on the listing, so read it there before buying.
What a listing has to pass to appear here
| Check | Rule |
|---|---|
| Condition | Renewed, refurbished or used, as Amazon.com labels it. New drives are on the line pages. |
| Type | A 3.5-inch SATA hard drive from a NAS or enterprise line. SAS drives, desktop drives and surveillance drives are left out. |
| Recording | CMR. An SMR drive is left out, and so is a listing whose recording type is not established. |
| Any drive of 22TB and above | A document from the drive's maker has to state that the model is CMR. Otherwise the listing goes to the labelled section under the tables, with a badge naming the maker. |
| Host-managed SMR | Left out everywhere, including the labelled section. These drives need a host that manages their zones. |
| Capacity | 4TB and up. |
| Stock | In stock when last checked. Prices are re-read through the day. |
Before you buy a second-hand drive
- Open the listing and read the seller's warranty and return window. That is your cover.
- Find the full model number and check it against the maker's datasheet on the line page.
- Confirm the interface is SATA for a desktop NAS.
- On arrival, check the drive's power-on hours and run a full surface test before trusting it with data.
- Run it with redundancy and keep a backup. The lower price is the trade for a shorter known history.
The line pages hold the maker's figures
Ratings by model number are on the pages for each line, read from the datasheets.

Frequently asked questions
Which recertified drives are left out of this page?
SMR drives, SAS drives, desktop and surveillance drives, and anything under 4TB. From 22TB up, a listing whose maker does not state CMR for the model is shown only in a labelled section under the tables.
Does this page state a warranty for recertified drives?
No. The seller sets it and writes it on the listing.
