What neo+ means

Synology announced the family on August 5, 2026 as an accessible starting configuration alongside the regular Plus line. It is not a new DSM tier: backup, Drive, Photos, Surveillance Station and the storage features of the corresponding chassis remain available.

The trade-off is memory protection and, on the five- and eight-bay models, factory capacity. All neo+ models can reach 32GB with supported modules, including listed ECC options, but Synology does not support mixing ECC and non-ECC DIMMs.
